China has become one of the leaders in the global economy of 21st Century because of the exciting progress. Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group (MSIG) established its first branch in Shanghai, mainland China in 2001, which has developed fast and smoothly during these years. To provide more comprehensive and considerate services and to fulfill the customers’ needs, Shanghai Branch is incorporated to Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance(China) Company, Ltd (MSI China), a fully invested subsidiary of MSIG September 2007.
MSI China has a capital of 500 million RMB. Its main business includes Property & Casualty　Insurance, Short-term Health Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance, and the Reinsurance of the insurance above.
To provide more comprehensive and considerate services and to fulfill the customers’ needs in more regions as an insurance company rooted in China, MSI China established its Guangdong Branch in August, 2008 as the first Japanese insurance branch in Guangdong Province. With Guangzhou as standpoint, it has become possible to provide direct insurance service to the customers all over Guangdong Province (including Shenzhen).
In addition to that, MSI China obtained the approval to establish its branch in Beijing in May 2009. Currently, we are preparing for the opening of this year. Beijing Branch will be the second branch of MSI China, and it will be the first Japanese insurance business branch in Beijing as well. Furthermore, MSI China will provide customers with the best risk solution in Shanghai (Headquarters), Guangdong (Branch), and Beijing (Branch) as the three major regional centers of Eastern, Southern and Northern China. We aim to gradually establish branches in the cities where the MSI representative offices are located, such as Suzhou, Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Hangzhou and Chengdu. We will make continuous efforts to further expand the sales network and enhance service capabilities in the future.

Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd (MSI) was merged from the former Mitsui Insurance Co., Ltd and the former Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd in 2001. Both of the two companies had a long history and extensive experience in the insurance business. In addition to that, they had strong ability and high market share. Since the merger, through expansion and quality improvement, MSI has been striving continuously to become a world-class international Non-life insurance company.
